Project Gen Z are a passionate and determined team of Australian Entrepreneurs that are venturing to Cambodia this year to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged and orphaned children.
Their mission is to present them with a new way of looking at things. To give them an opportunity to dream and think a little bigger. They want to ask them 'What if?'
What if you could own that cafe you have always dreamed about? What if you could learn how to run a business? What if your life could be different?
Running a series of workshops to empower, educate and motivate, their team will work alongside local successful Cambodian entreprenuers to prove that life doesn't have to be the way you expect it to be; that anything can be done if you dream big and work hard enough.
We had the opportunity to interview Zoi who tells us more about this incredible movement...
We really believe in personal and professional development and agree that everyone should have access to this, it’s such an inspiring project. How did you guys come up with the idea of Project Gen Z?
I cannot take credit for coming up with the idea, I only joined the amazing team from Project Gen Z a few months ago now as a sponsor. Liz Atkinson-Volpe is the founder of Project Gen Z.
What inspired you to start up the project?
What inspired me to join the movement of PGZ was the idea of education and children combined. It is better & easier to build strong children then it is to repair broken adults. I love the idea that the project is inspiring and educating these children that do not have the access to such basic life lessons on dreaming bigger & making a difference in their own lives and in the lives of their communities.
Project Gen Z will run workshops over in Cambodia. What kind of things will the workshops involve?
The workshops that we will be running over in Cambodia will cover a few different key topics. Things like goal setting, confidence building, success mentality, leadership skills, money management & how to build strong relationships.
You guys have just run the Yoga in the Park event! Tell us a bit about how it went.
The Yoga in the Park morning that we held on the 12th September to help raise funds and awareness for Project Gen Z was a huge success. It was a beautiful morning filled with an amazing yoga class, meditation, prize give aways, goody bags and #LIKEABOSS tee shirts and we ended the morning with some beautiful music form a local duo. We cannot wait to continue this beautiful event annually going forward to help raise more awareness and funds!
The launch of ‘Dare to Dream’ was insanely successful. Tell us a bit more about the launch and what this all means for Project Gen Z?
Yes the launch was incredible successful! I unfortunately was unable to attend but on the night they raised an in credible 26K! This means that along with all of the funds that all of the sponsors raised we will reach above our target of 30k that we were aiming for to take over with us to hand over to the Sunrise Children’s Village. This means that not only can we go over to offer up our time to help educate these beautiful children, we can donate to help them with their ongoing schooling and running of the Sunrise Children’s Village.
How can people get involved with the upcoming trip to Cambodia?
For those who would like to get involved in helping us along with our coming trip to Cambodia, any small donation helps! You can jump onto the MY Cause page and donate. Please see link below…
Is there anything in particular you want people to know about Project Gen Z?
There are many worthy and amazing charities out there. Project Gen Z to me feels more like a movement however. It really encompasses the old saying of ; give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. This is what we hope to create for these children. The means to give them the basic tools in life so they can dream big and accomplish their goals and really change their own lies around and the lives of the people in their communities.
This is only the start for Project Gen Z. What’s next?
Over the next 5 years, our vision is to travel to 5 countries and inspire the lives of 50,000 children. Stay tuned!
