If you feel like your life is missing something, its probably the right cushion styling techniques. We believe that cushions are key to a fashionable interior. Here are 5 helpful pointers to keep you cushion styling like a boss.
#1 | LESS IS OFTEN MORE
We have all seen the couches and beds with cushion piles so high it’s a task to make contact. If you are one of the compulsive cushion buyers we are referring to then please take note. We suggest you select a maximum 2-3 cushions for a 2 seater couch, and 4-5 cushions for a 4 seater couch, and so on. We love our cushions and we love them in numbers, but be careful not to overdo it. Try to bear in mind that in interior décor, less if often more.
#2 | WE LOVE CONTRAST
Now if we’re talking bedrooms, we must admit we love nothing more than crisp white bed sheets to show off our printed cushions. Don’t be afraid to play with textures, colours and prints. Go nuts and try clashing a smaller geometric print for your bedspread with a bigger and bolder geometric cushion to add some commotion. If you have a neutral colour theme, try and select two or three bold colours to inject depth into the room.
#3 | WHO SAYS SIZE MATTERS
Having all your cushions in the same regimented size can look very prim and proper. Try combining cushions of varying sizes and shapes to create contrast and excitement. We love our cushions styled with a selection of oval, oblong and rectangular shapes. Its not the size of your cushion that matters, its what you do with it.
#4 | CHUCK ‘EM
Not in the bin…on the floor. We’re not kidding, the floor offers a fresh alternative to chairs – have them in a pile for people to sit on the floor and lean against. You can also stack ‘em high on a chair or a stool. Go nuts and stack two or three then have them on display. Rotate them around and mix it up, there are no rules in cushion world. You can also spruce up a wire basket by stuffing in a couple of cushions and placing next to the couch or in a corner.
#5 | APPLY MOTION
Take our cushy advice and give your cushions a fierce fluffing, a quick slap and a little whack in the middle to create the ‘karate chop’ look and your cushion game will be so strong you’ll have everyone green-eyed.
