We spent 5 minutes with super mum & affordable interior styling Guru Katy from The Eye Spy Milk Bar, we talk balancing work life & taking care of little ones, the challenges & how to overcome them, how to style your home on a budget, easy spring additions to liven your home & so much more !

After a career in PR, Marketing & Advertising you set your sights on a new adventure & The Eye Spy Milk Bar was born. What advice do you have for mothers who want to start something of their own? What challenges have you faced & how have you overcome them?
Go for it! Working from home and doing something I love around the kids is definitely a dream come true, however like anything it does have its challenges.
- Finding that magical work/life balance is one- you never really switch off! - Working around the girls sleep times is another- when you have deadlines often they're the days that don't go to plan! - A lot of late nights glued to my computer!!
Your blog & Instagram focus on affordable styling inspiration. Your beautiful vignettes prove that you don’t have to spend an absolute fortune to create a beautifully styled space. What advice do you have for those who want to re-style their home on a budget?
I'm a big believer in not having to spend a fortune when styling your home. Hunt down the sales, do your research and be on the lookout in places you'd least expect. My office moodboard was found in the gardening section of Bunnings for $17!
Spring is almost here now, do you do a big spring clean & you find you change up your interior as the warmer months come along?
I'm always changing things around these days! Nothing stays the same for long! With Spring in the air I'm excited for gorgeous pink blossoms, lighter shades and textures within the home.
Do you believe in interior styling rules or does breaking them sometimes create a greater impact?
I don't specifically follow rules. I like to think outside the box when decorating and create a space that is inviting to be in.
You’re a mummy to two little girls, how does having kids impact the way you style your home? Often we hear mums saying, “I can’t have nice things in my home with my kids.” But you prove you absolutely can. Do you have any tips for keeping a child friendly but stylish interior?
Our home has definitely adapted to having two little girls running (& crawling!) around. Olive is almost walking so we're back at the 'keep everything out of reach stage'! I forgot how hard this stage is!! Now it's more about being child friendly and not having to much clutter around.
We just adore the way you style your lounge, office, kitchen & kids rooms, do you have rules for your little ones about not touching the beautiful set-ups you create? What’s your secret to keeping everything looking so immaculate ?
It's always a challenge styling when the kids are around! It takes 3 times as long! I'm now trying to do more when they're not at home. Instagram shows the good bits (the areas that have been neatly styled) because after all you don't want to see my huge mountains of washing!! Our house definitely isn't immaculate with 2 kids! Instagram is my creative outlet and I love sharing my affordable finds and how to style them.
Where do you draw your interior styling inspiration from? We love discovering new Instagrammers, could you share someone who you find inspiring with us?
Definitely magazines (Adore, Real Living and Inside Out magazines are my favourites) & blogs Sunday Collector - I've always loved Briar's style. Oh Eight Oh Nine- I love Tarina's beautiful home.
Be sure to check out Katy on Instagram & her Blog too for interior inspiration for your home.
